The National Unity Platform (NUP) has formally submitted the required signatures to endorse its leader, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, as a candidate in Uganda’s 2026 presidential race. NUP Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya confirmed that the party had gathered and submitted significantly more than the minimum required signatures set by the Electoral Commission (EC).

Rubongoya praised the citizens who risked intimidation to support this change, emphasizing that the endorsements came from a broad base of voters across Uganda. The EC stipulates that presidential candidates must secure signatures from voters in at least two-thirds of Uganda’s districts before being officially nominated.
