Uganda Airlines has acknowledged experiencing significant delays and cancellations on its long-haul international flights, fueling frustration among passengers especially on the lucrative Entebbe–Dubai route. Reports emerged of multiple reschedules for travelers, with some informed they would not fly until several days later, sparking widespread inconvenience.
The national carrier attributed these disruptions to unspecified “operational challenges” primarily affecting its Airbus A330-800neo fleet, which operates the three long-haul routes: Entebbe–London Gatwick, Entebbe–Dubai, and Entebbe–Mumbai. These wide-body aircraft are critical to Uganda Airlines’ international ambitions, while regional flights on smaller Bombardier CRJ-900 jets remain unaffected.
The airline has not publicly detailed the precise causes but industry observers speculate that a combination of intense demand, limited fleet size, and minimal turnaround time between flights are creating strain on the system. High cargo bookings, particularly on the London service, have intensified the pressure, highlighting systemic challenges in scaling operations effectively.
